Dear Lucas,
My dearest son, you are 6 months old today! 6 MONTHS! How did this happen? I don't remember giving you permission to grow up =) I guess its a good thing that Momma has no control over you growing, because I would have chosen to keep you a newborn forever, and then I never would have had the joy of watching you explore and learn new things. I wish though I at least had the ability to slow down time a little...Everyday you amaze me at the new things you know! You are such a cute baby, and your father and I are so in love with you. I still cant believe how blessed I am to be your mother!
This month has been rough. You started teething a couple of months ago but your teeth actually started to poke out a little this month and that caused your scream level to go from a high of 7/10 to like 11/10!! Your screaming literally makes our ears hurt and I am pretty sure you are reaching levels that would make glass shatter =P. But seriously, my heart has been breaking all month watching you go through this, and I pray it gets better soon. We have been trying everything from natural teething tabs, to amber beads (which we are pretty sure have no scientific basis but we are desperate.)
Besides the teething though, this month has been 4 weeks of so much growth! You have gotten really good at rolling over and sitting on your own. You also hold your bottle really well now and constantly want to try to crawl. You can get your body up off the ground but cant quite get your knees up yet so you end up scooting backwards and get all the more frustrated.
You also decided while at the museum the other day that you just wanted to walk like your cousin. You started crying every time I wouldn't hold your hands and put your feet on the ground to let you slowly put one foot in front of the other. My back was killing me after a couple of exhibits but it was worth it to see the look of accomplishment and joy on your face as you made your way around the room one step at a time.
I am also very excited that you have decided 7:30 pm is when you want to go to bed every night. Before we put you in your bed between 8-9pm when you got tired but now you let us know come 7 that you are ready. You start yawning, rubbing your eyes, crying, and just want to be held and cuddled. It is honestly my favorite part of the day, and not because you go to bed, but because I get to snuggle you close, rock you in my arms, and spend a few moments just thank God for you and the wonderful little person you are becoming. There are some nights I almost fall asleep holding you (many nights when daddy does) and there are other nights when I just hold you and I cry because I still cant believe how incredibly amazing it is to be a Mom and have you as my son.
These past 6 months have been the most amazing 6 months of my life and I can not wait to spend the rest of my life watching you grow. Your father and I will always Love You! Always!
Love,
Momma =)
