Dear Lucas,
This has been a month of bumps and bruises my child! You finally figured out how to move yourself around! It started with this inchworm crawl that you figured out while violently launching yourself to get across the floor. Now you get the legs doing a little crawl action but your arms are still doing the worm. Its quite an odd but adorable crawl =) The only problem is you are still working on balance and you take so many falls in one day, I have lost track of the bruises. I used to know how you got each one, but now I find new ones everyday that I have no idea where they came from.
A friend was over a couple of weeks ago and was very concerned about catching you every time you fell over (from a sitting position), I said I don't worry about it anymore because if I did I would spend my whole day holding you up. Fortunately the falls you take from a sitting position are usually never enough to upset you and they are good for you to learn how to balance yourself on your own. But the falls you take from a standing position scare me (and you!) a bit and you get very upset! Oddly enough though, you usually want a quick cuddle and then to go right back to what you were doing. In fact, you usually cry until we put you back where you were so you can try again, so much persistence. =)

You are so animated right now and full of energy. We finally decided it was time to baby proof the living room so you can roam around it without getting into trouble. Not even a full 24 hours after learning you could move around, you discovered the internet cable to Daddy's desk, and as I took you away from that, you went and found the blinds...*sigh* you showed me in a matter of minutes the things I still needed to baby proof. We even had to get a thing to keep the door to the entertainment center closed, because you love to open it and take out Daddy's X-Box, PS3, and controllers.
The most frustrating part of this month has been trying to change your diapers or get you dressed. You just have so many things to do and explore, there is clearly no time for nonsense like clothes =P Seriously though, I think you have gotten your first real strict talking to this month by both your father and I, as we try to keep you on your back to change you, and you fight us tooth and nail to get on your tummy so you can crawl away. The only thing that seems to keep you on your back is giving you your thick Child's bible to hold.

You are so busy all the time. You constantly want to be crawl, pulling yourself up on things, or practicing walking holding our hands. Your personality is really starting to come out. All I hear from babysitters, nursery workers, or anyone who spends more than a couple of minutes with you, is "he is SO active!" and "He never sits still!" I am always smiling and agreeing. Your father and I have decided that we really better get in shape soon before your faster than us. Neither of us were real athletic growing up but I am starting to think you may be, with how much you love to move. There are not many moments of quiet or calm around here anymore but that's ok, we love watching you explore and grow. When your sleepy you still cuddle and breaking in your two little bottom teeth has resulted in extra cuddles as well.
You learned this month about separation anxiety. You still aren't real scared of strangers but you definitely are more guarded with them. The main thing you do though is cry if your father or I leave the room. I have had a highly unproductive month trying to get things done when you distracted and hoping you don't see me leave the room, but you always do...
My favorite moment this month though was the morning you broke in your first tooth. Daddy had brought you into our bed and after you finished your morning bottle you gently grabbed my hand and put it in your mouth. I think it was your way of showing me your new tooth. I thought you were just being silly until you put my finger on the tooth and it hurt haha! I was so surprised but also so happy for you.

My favorite part of the day is bedtime, when you are snuggled up in my lap. We read a bible story, you drink a ba while looking up into my eyes, and I sing to you. But the best part is when I softly whisper I love you, and you smile at me...every time you smile =) It makes my heart melt and I close my eyes and Thank God for another precious day with you. Even when your teething, falling over, crying, screaming (oh yeah you learned that this month too!), or getting frustrated at a toy, we still love you SO much and can't believe how incredibly blessed we are to be your parents.
Love you,
Mom and Dad =D
