Our day started off much like Mother's Day where we had the best intentions of going to church but Lucas took a nap on a weird schedule and slept through both services. So we got a nice morning nap and then when the boys got up we spent some time together as a family. =) My father is currently on a business trip so we only had Jeremy's Father to see today. So while we were waiting for his family to get back from a brewery tour this morning, Lucas played video games with Daddy and Tonks and Lucas actually played for a bit too! Then we went to Cold Stone for some sorbet and ice cream! Finally, we made it over to my in-laws and enjoyed the afternoon/evening playing games, hanging out in the sun, eating great food, and swimming at their neighborhood pool. Happy Father's Day to all you amazing fathers out there!! We hope you had an amazing day!

This past weekend we got away to Pawnee National Grasslands for some RV camping with my parents and sister, and some high powered rocketry! My father has been building and launching these rockets for years and has now gotten my husband in to the hobby as well. They both had some successful flights this weekend (despite the weather) and my sister had a less than successful but much cooler ball-of-fire flight =P Here are some pictures from the trip! Lucas did great at first, just watching the rockets but then we had a rather loud one go off close to us and from then on he would cry every time he heard the sound...poor baby. We tried to re-associate the sound with cheering and high fives but he just was not having it. We think the combination of short naps and bad teething probably didn't help matters. Preparing to fly my Husband's rocket, "Naked Steel" We had a ton of fun launching rockets, hanging out in the RV and playing games as a family. Our only problem was that Lucas would not take naps, we tried everything possible in the RV to get him to take a nap but he adamantly refused. It wasnt until Saturday evening that I had the idea to take him for a long walk in the stroller away from everyone, and amazingly after just 3 minutes or so he was out cold! I then spent a lot of time walking back and forth with him the rest of Saturday and during nap times on Sunday to get him to fall asleep. It was good exercise though and the view could not be more beautiful! After a few good flight Sunday and spottings of a funnel clouds not far off, we decided to pack up and head home. Luckily we out ran the weather though and made it safely home! This weekend was a great little getaway and a wonderful reminder of the beauty God has created in Colorado.
I was born in California and though I would never move back (and honestly only lived 8 years there) I feel that the only part of me that is truly from Cali is my love of the ocean. I love EVERYTHING ocean... the water, the sand, the animals, the coral, the sharks, but most of all THE BEACH!
