Our poor child, last year we put him IN a pumpkin...and this year we taught him all about carving by teaching him how to pull the stringy guts out! He is still too young to understand what we were doing and tried multiple times to eat the seeds (which wasnt a bad idea they just werent cooked yet lol), but the process was fun and the laughs were many! Lucas was a bit hesitant to put his hands in the pumpkin at first (maybe we scarred him last year oops lol) but once we showed him how much fun it was he dug in and giggled at the squishy feeling. He enjoyed it for a little bit and actually cried when we took them away, but overall I think he was just happy with his picked out gourd =D

As a new, young, family, we don't have a ton of family traditions yet, but one we do have is going to Anderson Farms every year, in fact I think last year's trip is on this blog...Check it out http://lifewiththelongs.weebly.com/blog/pumpkin-patch-pictures Last year Lucas was soooo tiny and cold we just spent time walking around with him trying to stay warm. But this year, it was 80 degrees and our little boy was running around! We were actually really hot and thirsty going through the corn maze haha. First Stop: The Corn Maze Next: The Petting Zoo! And Finally: Picking the Perfect Pumpkin So we told Luke "Go find a pumpkin" and we kept handing them to him and bringing him to different ones and he would just walk off (or hit them ugh) but he seemed way more interested in trying to conquer walking through the field of uneven dirt, than actually have any interest in the pumpkins. He finally decided he kinda liked this one... ....but it was too big and honestly after a few seconds he was off exploring again... Until...he found this one...his own perfect little *pumpkin* (gourd), it was just his size and he wouldn't let the thing go...it was the PERFECT PUMPKIN =D It was a beautiful day, a wonderful time as a family, and it was rich with lots of fun memories, we cant wait to come back here every year as our son and family grow =)
My wonderful Mother celebrated her (21st =P) Birthday earlier this month and I took the opportunity to take some cute pictures of the family together. My sister came home from college for the party, and my Brother and Sister in law gracious hosted the party. Lots of great cousin time and even a sneak peak at the new cousin on the way!! Have I mentioned how blessed we are that Lucas gets to grow up with cousins his age, who live 10 minutes away =) That is something I didn't really have growing up and I am SO happy that Lucas does! What a wonderful night with Family, Happy Birthday Mom!!
We haven't been on vacation in TWO YEARS in fact our last vacation was to Kansas City for the same BBQ competition! We were SO excited to get away for a few days, enjoy ourselves, relax, and have some fun!! This was Luke's first road trip and first time out of the state! We went with Jeremy's family and while Jeremy and his brother and father judged the BBQ competition, his mom and I took Luke to all sorts of fun places. Two years ago she showed me the places that she used to take her sons in Kansas City when they were little, and this year we got to take Lucas to all of those same places! Day One: Driving to Kansas City Considering our child can not sit still for more than a few seconds, we were very impressed with how well he did on this 9 hour road trip! We took breaks about every two hours to let him get out and walk around and then when he got really fussy we used the portable DVD player to put on Veggie Tales and he did great! Above is him playing at a playground at lunch =) Day 2: The boys didn't have to judge BBQ this day, so we went to the mall and enjoyed a day exploring and having fun. First stop, Fritz! The restaurant delivers your food via train and Lucas was mesmerized. =) After visiting the Crayola store, the Hallmark store, and walking around the mall, we went over to Legoland! After Legoland we went to the Aquarium next door, I LOVE the Ocean and LOVE aquariums, we had so much fun! Day 3: The Boys went off to judge BBQ and we headed back to the Mall with Lucas to grab a couple of things we needed to get and had Lunch at the Crayola Restaurant. Unfortunately that is really all we got done this day before Lucas shut down on us and we had to return to the condo for nap time. Day 4: As the boys went off to judge BBQ again we went to Union Station for brunch and a look around. And then we found Luke's favorite part of the trip...TRAINS, they have an entire exhibit set up with trains, tons and tons of trains and Lucas was memorized. Then we met up with the boys and went over to the WWI museum but we only got to see the outside of it. We headed back to the condo to watch the Bronco's game (which most of the family slept through lol) and then we headed out to dinner, but unfortunately Luke's cough had progressed so badly that he started vomiting and we had to take him right back to the condo. However, while sitting in the bathroom with him with the hot shower going so that the steam would help his shower, he started WALKING!!! WOOHOO We finally have a full-time walkin' little boy! Luke's cough had our vacation end a few hours earlier than we would have liked as we rushed home to get him in with our doctor again, but the rest of the vacation was a wonderfully relaxing, fun time!!
