Sorry these took so long!! I know a few of you have really wanted these! We were blessed to have so many friends and family join us and we definitely couldn't have done any of it without Seth, Nikki, Caitlin, or my in-laws! They were all such a huge help! 4 Generations of Long Boys below: I tried my best at some Minion Cakes and Nikki made an amazing Minion Watermelon for us! I also made a bunch of the decorations and used some of our favorite outfits from birth to now to hang up. Lucas got so many presents, we are so very grateful for all the clothes and toys while he grows over the next year. Lucas wasn't so fond of sitting still so long to open presents haha but he did his best! Jeremy and I wanted to get Lucas something he could use for a few years and something to help keep him busy since this child is always on the move! So we got him a trike that changes as he grows to help him learn how to ride it. So far its a big hit! His big cousin Tristan even helped him learn how to use it and gave him the sweetest kiss! And finally...time for the cake! I was trying to find a fake candle for Luke everywhere but no luck, so we ended up just using a real one and blew it out for him before he could grab it. We also decided to give him a cupcake instead of one of those personal cakes that are popular these days because our son would actually eat the whole thing!! And he did eat the whole cupcake which was sugar enough haha! "Hallelujah! I am ONE and I have CAKE!"

I cant believe my precious baby boy is One Year Old!!! How did that happen!? Dearest Child, How fast a year has gone by…everyone warned me this would happen. The day you were born the nurse even told us to take a good look at you because an hour from then you would look totally different and she was right. Well I have spent the last year focused on trying to treasure every moment of every day with you and I have learned a few things… First of all, no matter how many times people told me “he will grow up too fast, treasure every moment” you still cannot grasp just how fast it will go by until you live it. Second, there were some moments of this past year I tried my hardest to really “treasure” but realized that its ok that I was not fond of them. Such as the nightmares you had at night, the teething, the temper tantrums, watching you get hurt etc… Gramma told me one day that its ok to not love every minute of the day with you because there are some moments you wont miss, and that’s ok. And finally, though I tried, I have realized that there will never be enough moments in my lifetime to give you enough love that I feel satisfied at the end of the day that I treasured you enough. It’s Just Not Possible! I love you Lucas Elijah, more than I can express in words. I will always love you and always be your Momma. There are a million other wishes I have for you that I will prolly write in your baby book but today I simply just wish that you feel loved and always know that your father, myself, and Jesus love you SO much and completely unconditionally. Love, Momma Unfortunately my husband and I both had to work on Luke's birthday but we both took a half day so we could come home and celebrate with him! When we went down for his afternoon nap we went and got him a Happy Birthday Balloon and he thought it was great! Then we went to get him his first haircut! It wasn't anything we planned to do on his birthday but he seriously needed one before his birthday party and we didn't have time to do it before then, so he got his first haircut on his first birthday =) The Before Pictures ...And After =D We were SO impressed with the Children's salon we went to called Jack and Jill's Haircuts. Lucas got to ride in a little car and play during his haircut and then he got a cute little certificate with the locks of his first haircut! He loved it! After the haircut, we went over to Chataqua and took some cute pictures of Lucas with a wooden One, that we got for him. His Gramma had made him a special One Year Old shirt that we really wanted in some pictures so his Gramma and Papa stopped by quickly to give us his shirt and we sneaked in a couple of pictures with them before the sun went down. This little boy has brought so much JOY and ADVENTURE into our lives this past year and we just love watching him grow and explore. Happy Birthday Little Man!
A couple of weeks ago we got to celebrate the beautiful marriage of Jeremy's cousin Donny to his fiance Brandy. They actually got married on the beach but had the reception here and it was absolutely beautiful! We had a great time with family! Dancing, eating BBQ, and encouraging Lucas to walk... Congratulations Donny and Brandy!! We Love You!!!
We have been wanting to take Luke to the Zoo since he was born and FINALLY a week before he turned one we made it there! My Dad really wanted to celebrate birthdays with both Lucas and Tristan before he went out of town for their real birthdays so we all went to the zoo! The day started off a little rough with some flat tires on the two baby stroller but thankfully the information booth at the zoo keeps tire pumps on hand just for that reason! I was SO impressed with their customer service. I mean they could make so much more money on forcing people to rent their strollers if they didnt have that pump but they chose not to! Thats my kind of company! On top of all that, while we were using the pump, the receptionist was asking how old Lucas was and I told her we were celebrating his first birthday that day but he actually turns one in a week. She then proceeded to give us "Happy Birthday" pins, coupons for free ice cream cones, carousel rides, and 10% off the gift store for both Lucas and Tristan for their birthdays....Such a sweet lady and a wonderful company! The Zoo also has a BRILLIANT new water play area for kids! It was perfect for Lucas and Tristan to get some energy out and cool down. Tristan got minimally wet and played very nicely in the water, Lucas of course went over and stood in the waterfall and let it run down the front of him *sigh* After cooling off we went and saw the fishies in the aquarium area. Lucas had to be reminded a few times that we do not hit the tank and scream at the animals... I think that is the best picture I have of my dad and my son together! So adorable! After the water area we continued in the stroller and again my son had to be reminded that we do not hit our cousin sitting next to us... Finally we made it to the Carousel! The Boys LOVED the carousel! And we ended our day with some great ice cream!! We only made it half way around but we are excited to see the other half day someday!
I am a little back logged on this blog lately so I am going to try to catch up over the next couple of days! First up is pictures from Jeremy's work party! Every year they do a huge party for all the employees and their families at the Boulder Reservoir. I really enjoyed getting to know Jeremy's new coworkers and the view was absolutely gorgeous. Lucas and I got to watch Jeremy compete in a Corn Hole competition and then we ate some BBQ, enjoyed sometime in the grass and talked with some of Jeremy's work buddies. Finally we enjoyed some free ice cream from Sweet Cow! We would have loved to stay longer but between the rainy weather and Luke being a bit crabby due to no naps that day, we had to cut things short and head home for a nap. But we are excited we got to be a part of the party!
