It has been a summer of weddings and we could not be happier!! Both of Jeremy's closest cousins, got married this summer, and we are so grateful to God for blessing to both Donny and Brandy, and Amanda and Curtis! I posted pictures of Donny and Brandy's reception in July, here are the pictures of Amanda's wedding. Unfortunately, I am still learning how to take pictures on my new camera and with the low lighting a lot of these pictures do not do the beauty of this wedding justice. The Reception:Lucas did as well as could be expected at a social event haha but Mommy and Daddy forgot milk...so Daddy ran to the Walmart across the street but forgot his credit card...sigh...so we went for a LOT of walks around the church trying to get Lucas to relax and maybe even go to sleep....yeah that was a far fetched idea..but at least it was a beautiful night! As much as we wanted to stay till the end, we finally decided it was time to take the munchkin home. Its one of those things about being parents now, we have to go home a bit earlier when he loses it but we still had a wonderful time and look forward to many double date nights with the love birds in the future!
Last year, being 7-9 months pregnant over the summer, we knew there was no way we were going to be able to go camping. The bathroom breaks in the middle of the night alone would have made the trip miserable haha. So we were very excited to go this year and we thought with Luke turning one we could bring along his pack and play and we would be set! We went camping with other high school/middle school mentors from Calvary and were excited for a weekend of spiritual growth, time outside, and faith pushing challenges. We knew Luke would probably struggle a bit to get to sleep and could wake up early so we decided to bring our own tent and set it up a bit away from the rest of the group. Above is a picture of our tent and campfire area. Below are the pictures from literally right outside our tent. That river next to us is the river we went white water rafting down on Saturday. Well despite the separate tent, and loud river next to us, we still ended up waking up half the campsite with Lucas lol. It started with our brand new air mattress only having a plug in pump...*smacks head* not sure why they give you a plug in pump instead of a battery operated one but regardless we had no air mattress and no pads to sleep on so the ground was quite uncomfortable...on top of that it was colder than we expected in Buena Vista and Lucas would not sleep in his pack and play, so we snuggled up with him in between us but between the hard floor and the cold he was up every couple of hours upset. We finally moved to the car when he started screaming so loud we could not console him. We got in a couple of extra hours of sleep in the car with the heater on before it was time to get up with the rest of the group. Above: Us rocking up for breakfast After breakfast we headed off for rock climbing and repelling. I was SO proud of my husband, Jeremy. He did both, and though he said it was a challenge it was amazing! While Jeremy and the rest of the group were rocking climbing and repelling we did everything we could to keep Lucas happy but between the bad night's sleep, and teething, he was a bit crabby. However he did make some headway on trying to walk! Thankfully Lucas then took a very long, very much needed, nap in the car and we let him sleep through lunch and quiet time, which was a much needed break for Mom and Dad lol. In the afternoon Seth took Lucas for us while we went White Water Rafting with the group. It was only my third time going but I LOVE it everytime! If I could do that everyday to work out, I would! Unfortunately, when we got back, Lucas pretty much let us know he was done with this whole camping thing and really needed a good night's sleep back at home. We decided that between the previous night's sleep, the fact that he recently got his 1 year vaccinations (which always makes him tired) and his teething, that it would be best to head home that night instead of waiting until morning. We missed the morning ropes course which we were bummed about but we still had a great Saturday and look forward to next year! This was the one and only camping trip the Long Family got to take this year but thats ok, I think Lucas needs another year before trying again =P
