Happy Halloween from the Longs! We had so much fun this season. We went to Anderson Farms (see previous post), carved pumpkins, watched a ton of scary movies (totally enjoyed the Scream series btw), and even went trick or treating! Here are a few pictures from our wonderful October! So the new popular thing is to carve out holes for legs and put your baby in a pumpkin. I was mortified by this idea because honestly I really hate the feel of pumpkin drying on my hands (I wash them immediately after cleaning them out lol), and I know if I was forced to sit in a pumpkin I would freak out! But Jeremy really wanted to try it and so I decided that if we were gonna do it we should do it with one of my pumpkins that was a bit bigger and that I would put a bunch of paper towels in the bottom of it so he wouldn't feel so gross. Well the picture on the left was about 3 second before the picture on the right haha, apparently he feels the same way about it as I would, and yes he got a bath immediately after being taken out of the pumpkin =D Lucas has been growing and learning new things constantly! He has really spent the month trying to sit up on his own. I think it is still pretty early for that but he is sure trying his hardest. He is also talking (baby gibberish) and smiling a lot more. He still only really smiles for the people he knows but he is starting to smile at select strangers. He has definitely discovered his hands in the past couple of weeks and is grabbing on to everything he can get a hold of. He even grabbed his diaper bag the other day and pulled himself onto his stomach! Lucas really tried to make a new friend at Great Grandma Chris' birthday party, all Luke wanted to do was cuddle =) We also moved into a new apartment this month. Luke now has his own nursery, and we have this gorgeous tree outside our front door. I just couldn't resist getting a picture of Lucas in his snow suit in the beautiful fall leaves! There will be more pictures of the apartment its self once everything is unpacked and set up. And finally...Halloween pics...Of course Lucas was a Nemo Fish! What else would he be? His entire nursery and baby shower was Nemo themed so we had to stick to the theme. Plus I have been calling him my Nemo fish since the day I found out he was a boy =) Oh how we adore this child we have been blessed with! We hope you and your families had a wonderful Halloween season!

So I had the *brilliant* idea, to take Lucas to the pumpkin patch today because the weather report said that it was going to be the warmest day all week. It even said the high was 61 degrees, so I assumed we would be fine....ya I was wrong haha.
Well its official, I am now a PartyLite consultant. Jeremy and I made the hard decision a few weeks ago that in order to move into our new place, I really needed to have an income. I am not ready to take my nursing licensure test again yet, and we decided it wouldn't be a good idea for me to take on a new full time job only to (hopefully) only work at it for 6 weeks or so, and then take a nursing job. So after lots of prayer, conversations with my husband, and weighing the pros and cons of PartyLite, I decided to go for it! The picture to the left is from this morning, and as I was cuddling with my little guy, I was just so happy to know that I could stay home with him a bit longer and still bring in an income. So if you are interested in buying some awesome home decorations, want to help a stay at home mom, and love candles; check out my website: http://www.partylite.biz/ashleylong Thank you! Everyone told me when I got to college I would get addicted to coffee...Didn't Happen! Everyone told me when I got my first job at a hospital I would get addicted to coffee...Didn't Happen! Everyone told me when I started working graveyard shift that I would get addicted to coffee....Didn't Happen! Everyone told me when I went to Nursing School I would get addicted to coffee.....Didn't Happen! But this morning I got a drink with coffee in it! Because you know what happened? I became a MOM who is trying to survive off very little sleep and even though I hate the thought "artificial energy" I admitted defeat this morning and thought that maybe, just maybe, coffee would help me function today. The result: I got four sips into it, couldn't stand the test, had a horrible headache, stomach, and felt nauseous and had to go lay down. The verdict: NOT WORTH IT! I think I will be sticking to my "natural energy" sources such as water and good old fashion naps =D In other news, October is turning out to be just as busy as August and September were, apparently life is never boring with a baby! Jeremy is still learning and thriving at his new job, and I am starting my own business with PartyLite. We need some extra money each month to hold us over until I get a nursing job and PartyLite seems like a fun, easy way to bring in the money we need. I am also currently doing a review program for the NCLEX test, and I have NO IDEA why "studying 20 hours a week" sounded like nothing to me when I signed up...its 4 hours a day! And honestly, a lot of the material takes me longer than that. As the content progresses so does my anxiety and I find myself reviewing Joshua 1:9 over and over in my mind "This is my command, Be Strong and Courageous, do not be afraid or discouraged. For the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
We are also excited to announce that we are finally moving back into our own place! It has been a year, and though we are very grateful for my parents hospitality, it is time we get out on our own again. I am SO excited to build a nursery for little man! Who btw, has had a hard week. He is still having serious constipation issues that have required three changes in formula, and daily suppositories ordered by the doctor. We are really hoping this new formula starts to work soon, because the poor kid just cries and screams out in pain he gets so uncomfortable. The boys are also recovering from both being sick, Jeremy with a cold and Lucas with a virus. Luckily I have avoided both *knock on wood* but taking care of two sick boys all week has not been fun. But with both of them feeling better, we are really hoping to get out and go to the corn maze tomorrow with some friends! I cant wait to take Lucas and I am so excited to bring my camera for some awesome pumpkin patch shots =D
