We have had a bit of a Philippians 4:12 year let me tell ya, it started with a bunch of unexpected expenses regarding moving, then my husband lost his job in June, he got a new job at the end of July, I broke my leg in August, and then come the end of the year we had a car get a flat tire and then shortly after die on us, my lap top finally bit the dust after 4 years, and we all three spent the entire month of December sick with one of the worst colds we have had in a really long time!!
Let's just say 2015 was maybe not our year...haha BUT you know what? We actually learned SO much from it, top of the list being how to truly trust God in our circumstances, Philippians 4:12 really resonates with me this year as we have had so many financial and physical struggles this year but we are more happy and content then we have ever been, and our growth (especially mine) in my faith this year has just changed SO much!
"I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want." Philippians 4:12
But back to being behind on my blogging, I thought it might be good to do a bit of a year in review post since it has been so long shall we...
January- The beginning of 2015 started off slow for us, we all got a cold and then in the middle of having our cold did a bunch of family pictures with the Long side of the family. It was bad timing but thankfully it was an awesome photographer who was able to edit out the runny noses =) February- The highlight of February was definitely our trip out to California to see my family! Some of them hadn't met Jeremy yet and none of them had met Lucas, it was so great to spend time with all of them! I can't wait to go back! This was also Luke's first time in a plane, and he did awesome!! March- This month brought a lot of change. We finally moved out of our apartment and in to a house that is just the right size for us! We are right on the park and have room to be comfortable. We were actually so busy this month that we actually didn't take a single picture the entire month!! In fact this picture is actually from the Fall (as you can tell from the leaves). We spent a lot of the next few months fixing the house how we wanted it, painting the rooms, and settling in. April- April is always a fun start to the Spring and this year was no different. We celebrated Easter and got to decorate eggs with Lucas who understood it better this year. My mother in law and I also took Lucas, and my nephews to the zoo with the MOPs group. My mom also had a Jamberry nails girls night while the boys all went out bowling together. May- For May we took a road trip out to Kansas city for a family reunion for my husband's, father's mother's family! It was actually a lot of fun and Luke's first road trip! He did a wonderful job! June- Was the start of another busy busy summer! Our summers are all was jam backed and 2015 was the same if not even more busy! Jeremy and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary and planned a trip in August to get away for the weekend to Denver, more on that later. We then spent Father's Day camping at lake dillion (above), had a cousin's wedding, got to go to the celtic woman concert with some awesome friends, and Lucas graduated from his tumble class at the Little Gym!! | August- Happy 2nd Birthday Lucas!!! We celebrated at our house with family, cousins, and a group of his friends, we did a Veggie Tales theme and had so much fun!! The following weekend we had planned a late anniversary celebration to go away for the weekend and go to the Kenny Chesney concert, but as we were dropping Lucas off at my in-laws, I fell on their steps breaking my right fibula and spraining both of my ankles. However, I was still determined to make it to Kenny Chesney the next night and we did wheelchair and all! I spent the next few months in a cast/wheelchair and this kind of changed our world for a while. September- We spent a lot of time at home due to my wheelchair, but we did get out occasionally like for the first Bronco's game of the season at my in-laws and we actually got to go to a preseason game!! We also saw the historic blood moon and enjoyed watching it with Lucas. October- Per our tradition, we enjoyed a day at Anderson Farms picking pumpkins, despite me being in a walking boot. But this month I also finally got the walking boot off and started trying to go back to regular work part time. For Halloween Lucas dressed up as Mickey Mouse, and we both got to wear our Mickey and Minnie hats from our honeymoon. We took him trick or treating around our neighborhood for once and it was so great to get to meet all the wonderful people who live around us. November- We found a wonderful photographer in our price range to take some family pictures before Christmas and I am so happy with how they turned out! We also celebrated Thanksgiving with my in-laws on Thanksgiving day and my family the next day. We enjoyed the family time together and prepared for our first Christmas were Lucas was actually interested in traditions, lights, trees, and presents! |
July- Full of birthdays as usual, but we also participated in a Bubble Run which Luke mostly liked but sometimes was scared of, with some wonderful family friends, and Luke's best friend Sarila. We also went to Silverthorne for a wedding of friends and enjoyed more time in the mountains as a family. | December- Finally we finished off the year with a month of being sick but we survived and Jeremy is the only one with a lingering cough at this point (a cough that landed us in the ER before Christmas). We also enjoyed the holidays decorating the house for the first time, baking cookies, celebrating with our life group, and explaining all about Christmas to Lucas. We spent Christmas Eve with my family and Christmas Day with Jeremy's. |
We have had a year of a lot of ups and downs but we are so excited about what 2016 will bring us and ready to get this year started!! I hope to go back and add more posts to last year as I love to keep track of the stories, and pictures on here. But if that never happens, I am happy I got this post in and I hope to be better about keeping up next year! =)
